Resilience built through Content

1
We brought together 15 content creators from across Malaysia, learning from industry experts on all things online safety.
Three video frames showing diverse people speaking, with text in Malay and Chinese about money and challenges.
2
We began raising awareness about different types of scams and encouraging other creators to share their scam experiences.

Building on that momentum, our Creators IRL fellows produced 45 original videos that empowered audiences to Chup! (Pause), Think Twice, Verify and Report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.

Saya pun pernah kene dgn tiktok scammer. Beli barang dah bayar dia minta bayar lagi. Tahu2 bayar punya bayar sekali habis gaji sebulan.
Mak sy pun pernah kena. Konon dato ct video call dia suruh tangkap epal dkt screen 😂 mak sy meaning rm24k tp kena transfer kt diorg dulu berapa ribu ntah 🤣pandai scammer tu menyamar siap add dato K dgn afwa lagi 😂
Something very similar happened to me. But it was with the police in Malaysia. I almost fell for it. I think the scammer felt sorry for me as I was crying on the phone
Thank you so much for educating people
மிக்க நன்றி 🤣🙏💯
Wow 😳😳😳. The safe word is a good idea. Thanks for the lesson 👍
Sukaa laaa content bagi ingatan pasal Scammer 👏👏👏👏👏
Terus maju dengan content yang bermanfaat my bro #terusluncur.
Kalau dia guna nombor sebenar dia pun jgn cepat percaya. Benda no terjadi dekat kenalan aku. Nombor dia kena hack, pastu scammer guna nombor dia pinjam duit jiran dia, adik beradik dia. Beribu2 dapat.
before transfer 需要看是不是自己的PLP(personal login phrase) (scammer不知道你选什么)比如说 MBB是头像,PBB是短句
Ramai org fikir scam ni tentang “jumlah duit”. Tapi sikit orang terfikir tentang “maklumat pribadi”. Sampai ada yang cakap “ala duit dalam tu 90sen je. Ko nak scam, scam lerr”.

Are audiences becoming more celik? 🤔

In 2024, we ran fake ads (for a good purpose!), bringing nearly 400,000 unsuspecting users to our Online Safety Tips page where they spent 2-4 minutes learning to protect themselves online.
So we ran the experiment again.

Only 6% of 1.5 million people clicked our ads

While our fake ads reached more people than ever before, clicks dropped by 94%. Audiences recognised, called out and reported our fake ads!

It's a positive sign that Malaysians are becoming increasingly celik and resilient against deceptive online content.

Online Safety IRL
on the big screens!

Our online safety advocates appeared on LIVE TV to speak on AI-generated scams. We also appeared along 3 major highways in Malaysia!

Youths Went Offline

Our Youths IRL Fellows took what they learnt throughout the fellowship and transformed it into four community-led initiatives, bringing online safety conversations directly into schools, universities, and local communities across Malaysia.
See you in the next edition!
